Penn & Teller: Bullsh*t |
Lead | |
|
Has anyone else seen this show? I LOVE it. I laugh so hard while I watch it, as well as spending a lot of time going "wooooooow."

I haven't. Honestly, I'm not even sure what they do. Are they more than comedians?

lol. I thought this was a P&T complaint thread. Personally, I'm not into magic, but they are pretty amicable folks.

I don't remember if they call themselves magicians or illusionists. They do go in for some of the bigger illusions, so maybe the latter.
Their act always seems to leave me feeling mildly annoyed. I'm not sure why that is, but I don't go out of my way to watch them. Visit my board at: Farrago Express / My other home base is: The Wannabees |

Well, basically the show is Penn and Teller talking about things that they consider "bullsh*t." Well, okay, it's more than that. It's a
documentary-type program that presents facts of WHY they think it's bullsh*t. For example, one episode on PETA gave an example that PETA, the organization
everyone knows to "love animals" euthanized over half of the animals they "saved" in one year and how, despite the fact that they claim to
deplore animal testing, the vice president of PETA takes medications for her diabetes that were perfected using dogs as test subjects. Stuff like that. Other
episodes focus on things like "self-help" techniques, UFOs, The limiting of free speech (through the regulation of air-waves), conspiracy theories,
and various other government policies, paranormal activities and odd organizations. The reason I laugh so much is all in the presentation: the way the people
they interview talk, Penn's over-zealous narration, and Teller's amusing demonstrations.
It comes on Showtime, which I don't get, but I watch it online. |

We don't get Showtime, either, so we'd have to watch it the same way.

I was just wondering. I know a lot more people get satellite or super-cable packages.

Just basic cable here. And we seriously consider every once in a while cancelling that, because so much of the time there is squat on TV.

Oh, I agree. Television is mostly drivel. However, I am watching The Golden Girls right now, and that's always good for a laugh!

I never watched the Golden Girls in its original airing. But when aew jr was a baby, I always sat in the rocking chair and held her for her morning nap.
That's when I discovered Golden Girls reruns. I laughed so hard sometimes that I woke the baby up!
Obviously, we're still finding things we like to watch or we would have already cancelled. It is a bit infuriating when you'll have days go by with no good movies on, and then one night BAM!, there are four or five that you'd like to see. Dilemma this weekend (Saturday night, I think): watch all three Indiana Jones movies or the House marathon? I like both; I think I'll let the kid decide!

We have a dvd recorder since Ladytenor and I work such divergent schedules. We record nearly everything to watch later. We also have a VCR on a second TV for
the occasional conflict. Most of what we've watched lately: Bones, House, Doctor Who, Sarah Jane Adventures, British Comedies on PBS, Lemur
Kingdom (Animal Planet - and we'll be there when Meerkat Manor returns), and assorted programs on Food Network (Ace of Cakes, Iron Chef
America, Throwdown with Bobby Flay, Dinner Impossible), History Channel (Enterprise 360 was VERY good), and Discovery Channel
(Mythbusters).

Pretty much the things I watch are The Golden Girls, Sanford and Son, British Comedies on PBS, Star Trek (if I can catch it), various shows about the
paranormal on History, Travel and Discovery, I Love Lucy, Full House, Home Improvement and All in the Family (again, if I can catch it.)

What, BF?? No Emeril Live? I think he's great fun to watch. Iron Chef America is also a favorite. And aew jr. LOVES Alton Brown on
Good Eats!
And who doesn't love I Love Lucy!

Yes, Good Eats, Unwrapped, and The Secret Life Of.
Is Emeril Live still on? I know Food Network stated there'd be no new shows. I don't know who made that decision, but I'd fire the idiot in a heartbeat. Visit my board at: Farrago Express / My other home base is: The Wannabees |

Even though I don't generally get along with "guy" types even though I am male, I like Guy Fieri, and his Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives show.
It's a very entertaining show, even though I wouldn't ever go to half those places.

See, I love most of the stuff he shows on that show. I'm a sucker for stuff that could potentially give me a heart attack. Good thing I like Cheerios, dark
chocolate and walking so much!

Ladytenor saw a comment that he'd put on weight doing that show.
